Did you know?
Costa Rica, sandwiched between Nicaragua to the north and Panama to the south, is one of the most progressive countries in Central America. The Costa Rican population of just over 4 million people welcomes over 2 million tourists every year. With its natural beauty, Costa Rica offers a wonderful variety of landscapes from tropical and mangrove rainforests to active and inactive volcanos, and from spectacular Pacific and Caribbean beaches to high altitude plains and mountains.
The first 9-hole course in the country appeared at the Costa Rican Country Club outside San Jose in 1944, and remained the one and only until the 70s when 18 holes were built a Cariari Country Club. Since the tourist boom in the 1990s a number of top-flight courses arrived on the golfing scene.
Whether your idea of the perfect day involves 36 holes or a few rounds between your sport fishing and scuba diving agenda, Costa Rica provides it all! Rapidly becoming a world class golf destination, with several championship courses in the capital city of San Jose as well as along the tropical Pacific Coast, Costa Rica golf has became a popular pastime.
